Magna Graecia Unit will take care of the clinical evaluation and psychological assessment, exploring the diagnostic components inherent to the mental well-being of the participants involved in the Videopharmakon study, extending the protocol to group-methodologies. According to the peer-buddy approach, the unit plans to extend the research protocol tested in pairs, to groups of 5 or 6 participants with the same diagnosis to use the therapeutic methodologies in a context of sharing team learning.
Children and adolescents invest in the peer group behaviorally and emotionally. For this reason group psychological interventions are effective in supporting and promoting specific behavioral dynamics functional to the well-being of the individual with neurodevelopmental disorders. Furthermore, the unit will deal with clinical and psychotherapeutic interventions based on the ST approach, including techniques and setting specificities inherent in audiovisual instrumentation. Indeed, ST is an integrated approach that can incorporate various techniques and strategies from other therapeutic approaches, including the inventive ideas employed in art therapy. This integration, which is a crucial element of the healing process, is guaranteed by the environment’s flexibility and dynamism. Additionally, ST is built on originality, viability, and adapting tactics to the circumstances and the demands of the patient. Also, ST considers the patients’ problems as an issue that has to be solved and develops a project to complete jointly, emphasizing their key talents and strengths. The feeling of incapacity is minimized and diminished by the focus on the resources.
Additionally, this emphasis strengthens the individual’s feeling of identity and self-worth.
The unit aims to emphasize the usefulness in clinical and research fields of an integrated methodology between audiovisual tools and therapeutic methodology applied in specific contexts of mental health and neurodevelopment.
